KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
What We Do: On March 29, 1882 at Saint Mary’s Church in New Haven, CT, a young Catholic priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, and the leaders of his parish founded the Knights of Columbus to provide assistance to Catholic widows and orphans. Today, our membership exceeds 1.7 million, and we have become the largest and most influential Catholic fraternal order in the world.
We have provided:
Millions of dollars in loans for building Catholic schools and churches.
Our own fraternal insurance program exceeding $64 billion of protection for our members and families.
Various work projects for our parish, our Church, and our youth.
Aid to the poor, homeless, and developmentally disabled.
Support for our pope, bishop, priests, and seminarians.
Driven by our faith, the K of C provides its members with the opportunity to discover the importance of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism to our country, our world, and our community. If you have a desire for stewardship and service to your church, and specifically to St. John’s, then the Knights of Columbus is an organization that can help you fulfill that desire.
