TIME & TALENT
Your Talent is Unique!
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
Thank you to everyone in the parish who makes our parish community function so smoothly! God created each of us to be a completely unique individual. The Word of God is spread with your help using these special gifts. Everyone has a talent, so you can be confident that God has a place for you already! Discerning how He has shaped us, and finding where he wants us, is a process which requires the freedom to explore. Come by the parish office and get your copy of Living Your Strengths by Albert L. Winseman, D.Min, Donald O. Clifton, PhD, and Curt Liesveld, M.Div., M.A. (Catholic Edition), at no charge. After reading the forwards by Bishop William Murphy and Msgr. Bill Hanson, you will be ready to use the StrengthsFinder tool that will give you your five top talent themes. As Bishop Murphy says, "The approach of setting a foundation for growth based upon assessment of one's God-given talents, personal and communitarian, is a very attractive one, especially in a society that today seems all too often to stress the negative."
It is so much easier to give of your time and talents when you truly understand the gifts that have been given to you by God. When we work from our strengths as a faith community, we gain deeper self-respect, and a deeper mutual respect, ultimately bringing about "a deeper encounter with God and with others." (Msgr. Bill Hanson).
We have over twenty organized ministries at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church! Please read about these ministries, councils, and organizations, and say “Yes” to your Call to serve Christ through St. John’s community and beyond!
